FAKE is based on a lie, on the desire to manipulate reality and emotions. “Am I a good person? Deep down, do I even really want to be a good person, or do I only want to seem to be a good person so that people (including myself) approve of me? Is there a difference? How do I ever actually know whether I'm bullshitting myself?” > David Foster Wallace

HAVING TO PERFORM MYSELF

“There are lies that you tell a person to throw them a surprise party, lies told with the desire to entertain yourself, and then there are lies you tell a person to make them seem stupid for believing you.” > Jonathan Franzen

Making fun of reality and its representations, the project creates a collision between individuality and community, and the egocentric experience with the unpredictable range of collective experience. Elliptically, it tries to divide the responsibility between the performer and the spectators. Metaphorically, it tries to move the confines between who decides what and reality.

THE MIND IS AN EXCELLENT SERVANT BUT A TERRIBLE MASTER

In what way does the presence of the public and its reactions modify the project? And who is, at this point, the author? Who in the spectator? Moving this ephemeral boundary hides a social dimension: reality is perceived as a space rather than as an image, as a natural and predefined setting. The question is: are we really interested in being able to adjust it?
