Within the spaces of Palazzo Adami, traces of nuvolario take shape: the research-project by Filippo Andreatta that looks upward. An observation of the transformative power of clouds within the most illusory of mechanisms: seeing what is not there. Relegated to the realm of vagueness because of their tendency to obscure celestial reference points, clouds have long been perceived as the enemies of clear and lucid thought, the nemesis of philosophers and scientists. Yet they have always decoded reality by revealing the deceptive transparency of the air and signaling other atmospheric phenomena; an aspect which, combined with their mutable nature, has made them the obsession of painters, photographers, meteorologists, and the military.

PIANO PHASE AND SIX PIANOS of STEVE REICH
concert for two pianos, with Andrea Rebaudengo and Bruna Di Virgilio

In two masterpieces of North American minimalism, Piano Phase (1967) and Six Pianos (1973), the process of phase shifting becomes the very essence of Steve Reich’s music. Repeating note patterns that gradually move out of sync with one another create complex rhythmic and harmonic textures in constant motion, in which the sounds of the pianos continually align and misalign. Loops, echoes, dynamics, resonances, timing: the relationship between the musicians evolves as the performance unfolds, through a constant movement of the parts that draws the audience into a hypnotic and immersive perceptual experience.

CLOUD STUDIES
film by Forensic Architecture

Clouds are always double. Seen from the outside they are measurable objects, seen from the inside they are experiential conditions of optical blurring and atmospheric darkness. Today’s clouds are both environmental and political. Their toxic haze is easily shrouded in lethal doubt. When denial obscures acts of violence and worsens the harm, we, inhabitants of toxic clouds, must find new means of resistance.

TASTING BETWEEN CLOUDS
with Giacomo Lorandi, culinary researcher and chef

Small cloud-inspired tastings lead the senses upward. Light fermentations and air-based cooking offer ephemeral textures, evoking the lightness and constant transformation of clouds, and create a shared rhythm of suspension and return. To close the evening, a communal buffet extends conviviality and restores the collective dimension of the gathering, weaving taste and connection into a celestial landscape to be experienced together.

He loves the practice of fermentation to create new and different flavors, but above all as an example of inter-species cooperation. His cuisine reflects his ethics: respect for raw materials and those who produce them, seasonality, and waste reduction.
